The adventure begins...

Welcome to my first ever blog!! I decided this was an easy way to keep everyone posted on my new adventure in London and beyond. I leave in about a week and a half, and have so much to do before I go. I am replacing some of the flooring in my house before I leave for the renters, so that has to be finished. I need to finished packing and getting rid of stuff (most of my stuff is going to Servants Anonymous), and do some painting of trim after the flooring is done.

Now, I realize some of you aren't clear as to who I'm actually working for in London. For the last eight and a half years, I have been working for Gentry Resources Ltd. For the last 7 years, Gentry has been managing a company called Stratic Energy Corporation, which has international oil and gas exploration assets. Stratic has the same management as Gentry and I worked for both companies. Last fall, Stratic brought on board new UK-based management and prepared to move the main office over to London. As part of that, they asked me to join them. I happily agreed as I had been praying for a change in my career. I was feeling very stagnated and in a rut. So, it is a company I've worked for in addition to other companies, the difference is that now I'm only working for one company - hooray!!! Our management is well qualified and I really think Stratic has a bright future ahead of it. We are currently drilling wells in the Black Sea, offshore Turkey, and have wells planned for Morocco, the UK North Sea and Syria. We trade on the TSX-Venture exchange under the symbol "SE".

My role with Stratic will be Investor Relations Analyst as well as Manager of Administrative Services. Our office is on Dover Street in Mayfair, which is in Central London.

However, before I go over, I need to finish up some things with Gentry, train a new receptionist, train the replacement for me, all the while working about 6-8 hours a day for Stratic. It's been a busy time and the next week and a half will be worse! Top it all off, I've picked up a bug and am feeling lousy! So, I'm taking loads of Cold FX and trying to get enough sleep. I don't have time to be sick!!

I have a flat (apartment) in London, in a suburb called Chiswick. It is lovely and very small-townish, but also quite trendy. The flat is small and on the fifth floor without a lift (elevator), so I'll be getting some good exercise! It is a great location - on a quiet street but close to everything - shopping, tube station, grocery store, commons (parks). So nice to have a place to go when I fly over! Check my links section for links on Chiswick. I will also post a picture of the building.

Anyway, must run. Tons and tons to do. I will attempt to write every few days if I can, but please forgive me if I don't update as often as you would like me to.
